Nothing news following the Community Board meeting Q1 2025

Novedades de Nothing tras la reunión del Community Board Q1 2025

The Community Board Observer (abdohas returned meet with the Nothing team to share impressions, suggestions, and news directly from the community. This meeting, corresponding to the first quarter of 2025 (Q1), yielded several interesting announcements related to recent products, new features, and future plans. Below are the latest updates from Nothing following the Q1 2025 Community Board meeting.

Successful launch of the Phone series (3a)

The range Phone (3a) It has exceeded sales expectations, and much of the credit goes to the available color options: the gray of the Pro model and the vibrant blue of the standard model are proving very popular. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 5G has also been very well received, with positive feedback on its performance and the good balance between price and power.

New features in the native camera and use of LUTs

Another feature that has generated discussion is the addition of Custom LUTs directly from the iPhone's camera app (3a). Many users are sharing their creations and even experimenting with artificial intelligence to generate new profiles. The good news is that this feature will also be coming to previous models soon.

Community Edition returns in 2025

The Community Edition project is back and stronger than ever: nearly 700 entries across four categories! The submission and voting period has now ended, and the winners will be announced soon on the official community website.

Essential Space and its first steps

The new "Essential Space" feature has been very well received. Users have found the current options useful and have made it clear they want more, which the team is already working on. It has also been clarified that some features mentioned in the first episode of Nothing TV—such as automatic categorization and conversation logging—are still under development and have not yet been officially released.

Changes following feedback on Essential Space

Some users noticed certain usage limits in Essential Space that weren't clearly communicated. Based on this feedback, the team has increased these limits to better suit the majority of users. A subscription prompt also appeared when installing the APK on older devices, causing confusion. Nothing has confirmed that there will be no subscriptions for current features. A tiered system may be implemented in the future, with basic features free and more advanced features available in a paid version, primarily to cover infrastructure costs.

However, Essential Space won't be available on older models, as it relies on the new physical button called Essential Key. This button will be part of future devices, such as the upcoming CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Support and after-sales service, in the spotlight

One of the most sensitive issues has been customer service, especially due to slow or overly automated responses. There were also complaints about delays in Phone (3a) shipments. Carl Pei has already taken note and issued a statement, committing to improve the after-sales experience.

Proposed improvements for the community

Among the ideas presented to the team were a referral or loyalty program, a more direct channel between users and the Nothing team (through the Community Board Observer), and the creation of useful tools such as an official wiki or a firmware repository. This would allow, for example, for repairing or reinstalling the operating system independently.

Everything points to 2025 being a year full of changes and innovation at Nothing, including the launch of Nothing Phone (3), with a clear focus on improving the user experience and strengthening the community.
