CMF is making its debut in the portable speaker market with two products that are anything but easy to ignore. The new CMF Speaker S and CMF Speaker M feature a design that inevitably brings to mind a milk carton (yes, the kind you keep in your fridge), four eye-catching colours, and a form factor that breaks away from the norm for this type of product.
CMF Speaker S: compact and designed to take everywhere
The CMF Speaker S is the smaller of the two models and focuses on a portable format. It incorporates a 45mm driver with a power of up to 10W RMS, accompanied by two passive radiators that help to reinforce the bass frequencies and achieve a sound with greater depth.
Its frequency response ranges from 70 Hz to 20 kHz, covering the entire audible range to reproduce different types of music. It's designed for those looking for a speaker they can use both at home and on a getaway, an outdoor excursion, or an impromptu gathering.

CMF Speaker M: More power to fill the room
If a more powerful sound is the priority, the CMF Speaker M raises the bar with a system of two independent transducers. It features a 70mm woofer for bass and a 16mm tweeter for treble, with a combined power of 35 W RMS.
The separation of the two components aims to deliver deeper bass, clearer vocals, and better instrument differentiation. Its frequency response ranges from 60 Hz to 20 kHz, and its acoustic enclosure is designed to provide a more controlled sound.

It is therefore the most appealing option for those who want to listen to music in a large room, use it as a home speaker, or add a bit more atmosphere to a party. It also includes an integrated handle for easy transport.

Stereo Mode and Party Mode to enhance the sound
Both speakers include several features designed to adapt the listening experience to different situations. One of them is Stereo Mode, which lets you pair two units of the same model, assigning one to the left channel and the other to the right. This creates a wider stereo soundstage with better separation between the two channels.
There's also Party Mode, which uses Auracast to sync multiple compatible speakers and play the same music simultaneously. This feature expands the sound coverage and allows you to connect more compatible devices, even from other brands that use this technology.

Ultra Bass, equalization and adaptive sound
CMF has also incorporated various tools to modify the sound according to the type of music or the use we give to the speaker.
Ultra Bass boosts low frequencies for a punchier sound. It can be easily switched on or off, with no intensity levels to adjust manually.
Meanwhile, Wide Soundstage aims to enhance the sense of space, adding depth and separation even when listening to music from a single speaker. Adaptive Tuning also automatically adjusts the equalization to adapt playback to changes in content, without needing to constantly open the Nothing X app.

In addition to all this, there are four equalization profiles: Balanced, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, and Voice. It's also possible to create a custom equalization to adjust the result to your preferences.
A very CMF design that you can customize
The design is one of the most striking aspects of this new family. Both models use a vertical format with geometric lines reminiscent of a milk carton, moving away from the cylindrical or rectangular shape more common in this type of product.
The CMF Speaker S and Speaker M will be available in four colors: white, dark gray, orange and turquoise. Furthermore, they don't just offer different factory color options.

Both the front panel and the physical volume control can be removed via a mechanism located at the back. This allows for swapping parts with other people or customizing the speaker's appearance with your own accessories.
CMF has also published a guide for 3D printing a custom volume control. An interesting idea for those who enjoy modifying their devices and want to give them a unique touch.
IP68 rating for taking your music outside the home
Both speakers feature IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, a feature that is especially useful in products designed to be transported and used in different environments.
According to Nothing's test conditions, both can withstand immersion in fresh water at a depth of up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. This protection also helps against dust, sand, and typical splashes when used outdoors.
However, the resistance is not permanent and can decrease with wear or damage, so it is not advisable to interpret the certification as an invitation to submerge them unnecessarily.
Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and USB-C connection
In terms of connectivity, CMF has incorporated Bluetooth 6.0, with an advertised range of over 100 meters in open spaces. It also allows users to maintain two Bluetooth devices connected simultaneously, making it easier to switch between your mobile phone and computer, for example, without having to pair them again each time.
The initial connection is also designed to be simple. Thanks to NFC, simply bringing a compatible smartphone close to the side of the speaker initiates pairing, and doing so again allows for quick reconnection. They also feature quick pairing systems for compatible devices from Nintendo, Android, and Windows.

Another option is to use the USB-C port to play lossless digital audio. In this mode, latency can drop below 60 ms, which can be especially useful when watching movies or playing games on a computer.
Both models also include a Night Mode that reduces overall power and bass, limiting the maximum volume to approximately 60% of the standard mode. It's designed for listening to music at a more moderate level when you don't need as much power.
Up to 18 hours of battery life
As for battery life, CMF claims up to 18 hours of playback at 50% volume with Ultra Bass enabled. As always, actual battery life will depend on the volume level, the content being played, and which features are enabled.
They also include fast charging: a 10-minute connection can provide up to an additional hour of playback under the conditions specified by the manufacturer. A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours for the Speaker S and 3 hours for the Speaker M.

Price and availability of the CMF Speaker S and Speaker M
The two new portable speakers from CMF are now available in Spain and can be purchased in four colors: white, dark gray, orange and turquoise.
Their official prices are as follows:
- CMF Speaker S: 59 euros.
- CMF Speaker M: 99 euros.
With this pair, CMF enters the portable speaker market with two distinct options: one more compact and easy to carry anywhere, and another with a more powerful sound system for those looking to fill a room. Shared features, IP68 protection, and customization options complete a product line that maintains the brand's signature style.
