Why I switched from Xiaomi to Nothing and I don't plan to go back

por qué cambié de Xiaomi a Nothing

When you've been using a brand for years, switching isn't easy. You could say I was a Xiaomi "fan," or at least a regular customer; in fact, my last four or five phones have been from them. But almost two years ago, I made the switch to... Nothing Phone (2), And I must admit that the change has been positive in many ways. In this article, I want to tell you Why did I make that change?, What does Nothing have that Xiaomi doesn't, and above all, why am I so happy with this decision?. Spoiler: I doubt I'll go back to Xiaomi.

A more stable and bug-free operating system

One of the first reasons I changed was the operating system, Nothing OS It's his first time, but he more than delivers on his promises.. With the last few Xiaomi phones I owned, the experience worsened considerably: the phone would freeze, crash, and on several occasions, suddenly shut down for no apparent reason. Sometimes, with the Xiaomi 11T Pro, the only solution after restarting was to format the app—it was insane. Many times I had to wait for the infamous "This app is not responding" message to appear and then close it or wait. This happened every few days.

However, I've been working with Nothing for almost two years and I haven't had a single blackout or serious outage.. The system stability It's infinitely better in comparison, and that makes the experience much smoother and more enjoyable.

Android Auto without the headaches

I use Android Auto daily, and with Xiaomi the last two years have been a nightmareThe screen would show lines or not even appear; I had to unplug and replug the USB cable every few minutes for it to work properly, or restart the phone.

With Nothing, on the other hand, It has only failed me once (and I think it was because I connected the cable incorrectly). I've tried it in three different cars and It always works without failures or interruptions, via cable or Wi-Fi. That provides a lot of peace of mind and improves the user experience, Something that Xiaomi failed to fix despite numerous user reports.

Close community and real communication

Communicating with Xiaomi is difficult; it has become a large company that It's not that close to the user. In contrast, Nothing offers a much closer-knit community, although it still lacks a strong official Spanish-speaking one. By the way, I'd like to take this opportunity to recommend our Spanish-speaking community at NothingTec.

Furthermore, even Carl Pei, The founder of Nothing reads, reacts to, and responds to user reviews and messages, and even shared a photo of me on his profile. That feeling that The brand listens to and cares about its community It's something Xiaomi has never offered.

Constant and real updates

As to updates, Nothing offers a approximately every two months. Since I bought the phone almost two years ago, I've received many improvements, changes and specific security patches. This contrasts with my experience of almost a decade with Xiaomi, where updates were less frequent and serious problems reported by the community, such as those with Android Auto, They were never resolved. This constant pace of updates This is a big point in favor of Nothing.

Clean operating system, with no advertising or bloatware

Although Xiaomi has been improving, for years I suffered with a system full of bloatware and advertising, even in native apps like the file manager or phone optimizer, something that It doesn't make sense on an expensive phone. mid-to-high range.

In contrast, Nothing has a Clean system, no advertising and with their own native applications optional that are gradually being integrated, all with a an experience designed with care and common sense.

Clear and consistent launch strategy

Xiaomi releases so many models each year that it's difficult to keep track of their catalog or know which one is best. Furthermore, their sub-brands like POCO... They saturate the market with very similar mobile phones. It's a classic case of "jack of all trades, accomplishing little.".

In contrast, Nothing has so far released «few models per year (between 3 and 4) and even with two years difference between his Nothing Phone (2) and the future Nothing Phone (3), demonstrating that They prefer quality and careful design to quantity and repetition.. I hope and wish that they maintain this policy so as not to oversaturate their own catalog and neglect devices that have only been on the market for a few years.

Identity and design that inspire enthusiasm

Finally, and no less importantly, Nothing has technology has restored our enthusiasm. Not just because of mobile phones, but because of the whole tech world that I'm passionate about. design, identity, risk and innovation What they show excites me, something I haven't felt with Xiaomi in a long time. This brand no copy, Xiaomi isn't content with simply doing more of the same. Although Xiaomi started with very competitive prices, now there are cheaper brands and Xiaomi has lost that spark. Nothing represents a breath of fresh air, And that's priceless.

Thank you and goodbye, Xiaomi

Switching from Xiaomi to Nothing has been for me one of the best decisions in technology. The stability, support, community, design, and innovation These are clear reasons why I trust Nothing and keep an eye on their news. I can't wait to see What will the Nothing Phone (3) bring us?, And for now, I don't plan to go back to Xiaomi..

I'm about to switch from Xiaomi (Poco) to Nothing after 8 years. I know I'm getting the Nothing Phone 3a for my birthday, and while I haven't had any major complaints about my phones, I agree with practically everything you've said. Xiaomi isn't nearly what it used to be with the Mi 6 or the first A series (A1, A2).

You see, you're absolutely right! At first, they were very competitively priced and offered unbeatable value for money. I ended up completely frustrated with the 11T Pro because of all the problems it had on a product that cost around €600.

      Thank you for participating!
