After more than half a year in which CMF's activity has been practically frozen (especially after it was confirmed that we will not see any new smartphones from the brand throughout 2026 due to the exorbitant rise in RAM prices ), Nothing's sub-brand is back in action. And it isn't doing so with just any product, but by venturing into an audio format they had yet to explore.
August 4th is the date chosen to officially present the CMF Clip Pro, a direct commitment to open-design headphones with a clamp-type grip.
A different open audio concept than Ear (Open)
To date, the benchmark within the ecosystem in the field of open audio was the Nothing Ear (Open). However, the design of these CMF Clip Pro headphones drastically changes how they attach to the ear. While the Ear (Open) headphones rest by wrapping around the ear and positioning themselves between the ear and the head, the Clip Pro headphones adopt a structure that inevitably recalls alternatives such as the Huawei FreeClip.

This design functions like a piercing or earring: a clip that hugs the side of the ear. The great advantage of this format is that it keeps the ear canal completely clear, allowing you to stay aware of everything happening around you without sacrificing comfort during long periods of use. Personally, I think it's a great idea that they're exploring this ergonomic design, and I'm very curious to see if I prefer this style of fit over the Ear (Open) style.

Spheres, physical wheel and metallic finishes
Thanks to the video and image previews released by the brand, we can already draw some initial conclusions about their design. The CMF Clip Pro will feature very rounded and organic lines. A prominent feature is a generous perforated grille that directs sound flow, and a key element in the user experience is an integrated physical control in the form of a rotary dial.
Compared to traditional touch panels, incorporating a physical dial to manage volume or playback seems to me a real success in functional design, providing that direct tactile response that is always appreciated.

As for the finishes, the color palette will maintain the aesthetic essence of the ecosystem: they will be available in white, black and a striking metallic copper/orange tone that looks frankly good on the whole.
The return to the releases we needed
This announcement is a breath of fresh air for the community. After the slowdown in the phone range, seeing that the development team continues to look for ways to contribute design and value is great news. The clip-on format is gaining popularity, and CMF's visual appeal could make them a very attractive option within the audio catalog.
We will be paying close attention to the August 4 event to learn all the technical details, battery life, and, above all, the official market price.
