The next big update of Nothing OS It's starting to take shape. This week, the company took the first step with the arrival of the closed beta of Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, Exclusively for Nothing Phone (3) users. This was announced by Rob from the Nothing team via... official forum of the community.
An exclusive beta for committed users
Nothing would like to thank those who are already using the Phone (3) for their early support and, as a reward, opens access to its first Closed Beta with Android 16. The main objective of this phase is twofold:
- Implement native Android 16 features
- Enter a new design system that lays the foundation for a more coherent and polished interface in the future
The company warns that this build is in an early stage of development, so some delays are expected. errors, missing or unstable functions. Even so, they are confident that the community will help detect these problems before the public beta launch scheduled for September.
Requirements to participate in the beta
If you have a Phone (3) and want to try Nothing OS 4.0 before anyone else, these are the requirements you must meet:
- Being a daily user of the device
- Be willing to give regular feedback to the development team
- Maintain high standards of information security
- Be aware that the software may be unstable and some functions may fail.
- Be available between August and early September to actively participate
In addition, Nothing recommends performing frequent backups, since The system could suffer major failures.

The process is simple: you have to fill out the official form before Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 5:00 PM (British time). Selected participants will receive instructions via email during the following week.
