Today, Nothing solved the mystery by releasing an official image on their social media. It shows the earbud's "stem," with a metallic finish and the "ear (3)" logo engraved on it, confirming what many of us suspected.
The official confirmation: Why are they called Ear (3)?
After launching the Nothing Ear (2), the next generation of their headphones didn't make much sense from a branding perspective; the following product was simply called Nothing Ear. People complained that it lacked logic. Nothing has responded to the community's users as clearly as possible.
They've announced that their next-generation flagship True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds will be called Ear (3). In an official statement, Nothing's Head of Smart Product Marketing, Andrew HoSP, made it very clear:
«"We listened to the feedback on the nomenclature and understood that it was important for users to return to the numerical order we had assigned to Ear (1) and Ear (2).".
Flagship headphones with substantial improvements?
Now that the name mystery is solved, the big question is whether the Nothing Ear (3) will be flagship headphones, with significant improvements over their predecessor. I recall that the Nothing Ear They cost €150 at launch, and I'm hopeful that Nothing can maintain a similar price while increasing product quality. For now, we only know that there will be a significant change in its aesthetics, With a metallic style, it appears to still be encased in a plasticized material, suggesting it will continue to feature transparency. Personally, I hope they focus on significantly improving the transparency mode, which for me is the Achilles' heel of their in-ear headphones. In terms of design and sound quality, I'm sure they'll be fantastic, like their previous releases. I think this is a crucial point for the Ear (3) to truly compete in this segment. premium.
