Monochromatic icons are one of the defining characteristics of the ecosystem Nothing. That clean style, black and white, It gives a minimalist and elegant feel that fits perfectly with the Glyph interface and the transparent design of its devices. However, it's quite common for some users to fall short when applying this style.
When you enter the customization settings of your Nothing Phone (by pressing and holding on the home screen, then go to Personalization > Icon Pack > Nothing), you will see that Some icons do work in black and white., But others retain their original colors. This happens even if you choose the "Nothing" package from that menu.
Why does this happen? Basically because by default the system uses a limited version of the icon pack, and does not include all adapted icons to the monochromatic design. To achieve that all If the apps switch to black and white, you need to take one very simple extra step.
Download the official Nothing icon pack from the Play Store
To fix this, you just have to go to the Google Play Store and look for the following package:
📦 Nothing Icon Pack
If you search on the Play Store, it's important to pay close attention to the developer: must be “NOTHING TECHNOLOGY LIMITED”, Because there are many third-party apps with similar names that can confuse you. This is the official one.
Once downloaded and installed, repeat the process:
- Press and hold on the home screen.
- Enter Personalization > Icon Pack.
- Select “Nothing” again.
Now yes, All your app icons should appear in black and white., including third-party apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, or any other you use daily.

A more uniform touch for your mobile phone
This small adjustment makes a big visual difference. If you like the minimalist style, this step is practically mandatory. It not only maintains the aesthetic that Nothing aims to convey, but also reduces “visual noise” on screen, making everything look cleaner, tidier, and more elegant.
And the best part: it's super easy to do and totally reversible if you ever decide you want to go back to the original colors. But if you're a fan of the Nothing design… you definitely won't want to go back.
